ORLANDO PRIDE WINS 2024 NWSL CHAMPIONSHIP

KANSAS CITY MO. NOV 23, 2024

Orlando finished the 2024 season with the Pride winning both the NWSL Shield and the NWSL Championship, the first major professional sports titles for Orlando. Julie Doyle played in 25 of the Pride's 26 regular-season games, starting in 21 matches, played in all three of the Pride's playoff matches, and played in all three NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup games. 


It was  the first time since 2019 that an NWSL team had completed the double  victory. The Pride became Orlando's first professional sports team to  win a major league trophy for the city. The championship win capped off a  historic season for the Pride, setting league records for points (60),  (18) wins, and (13)clean sheets. They also remained unbeaten at home, finishing the regular season with an impressive 10-0-3 record.

ORLANDO PRIDE CLINCHES THE 2024 NWSL SHIELD

The Orlando Pride clinches the 2024 NWSL Shield with a 2-0 victory over the Washington Spirit at Inter&Co Stadium on Sunday night. The victory marked the first time in the program's history that the Pride won the shield, which is awarded to the club with the best overall record at the end of the regular season. The 2024 Shield, sponsored by CarMax, was presented to the Pride after their title-clinching match.


With a current regular season record of 17-0-6, the undefeated Orlando Pride will enter the 2024 NWSL Playoffs as the No. 1 seed, earning home-field advantage for the opening round, as they are the only unbeaten team in the National Women's Soccer League with three games left in the 2024 regular season. The playoffs are set to begin the weekend of Nov 8-10.

ORLANDO PRIDE SIGNS FORWARD JULIE DOYLE TO NEW THREE-YEAR CONTRACT

Orlando Pride and forward Julie Doyle have agreed to a new three-year contract, signing the player through the 2026 season. Doyle was selected by Orlando in the first round as the No. 11 overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft.


"I couldn't be happier to be staying in Orlando. This team is so special, and I feel blessed to be a part of what we are creating here," Doyle said. "I am extremely motivated to continue to contribute to the team's success and bring a championship home to our amazing fans. Go Pride!

JULIE DOYLE SCORED EQUALIZER IN 2-2 DRAW VS C.F. MONTERREY FEMENIL

In Summer Cup action at Inter&Co Stadium, Julie Doyle scored a late-game equalizer in the 82nd minute. Summer Yates connects with Celia from midfield on an outside run deep in the attacking third. Celia opposes her defender 1v1, beating her into the box and serving a low cross in front of the goal to Julie Doyle. With one touch, Doyle redirects the ball to the far post, side-netting for the 2-2 equalizer. Julie Doyle: "I just had to hold my run a little bit and not close my own space, and I knew Celia was going to put it right where I wanted it, and that's exactly what she did. She beat her player, put it on the carpet and all I had to do was guide it into the goal." 


In the match: Orlando Pride's Alex Kerr scored to tie the game at 1-1 in the first half. The Pride earned two points in the Summer Cup by winning the end-of-regulation shootout, 5-4. Sofia Manner made a save for Orlando, and all five Pride players converted their penalty kicks, including Doyle, who made the first PK for the Pride.

The Pride's counterattack began with a corner kick from San Diego. Ally Watt gained possession of the ball and quickly passed to Brianna Martinez. Barbara Banda ran into space and received a pass from Martinez; she dribbled upfield against San Diego center-back Naomi Girma. As she entered the box on the right side, Banda spotted Julie Doyle open on the left and sent a cross between four San Diego defenders. Doyle reached back for a one-time volley and scored the goal in the 36th minute. In the second half, San Diego scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute from a cross to the back post. Makenzy Doniak's shot deflected off a Pride defender for the goal. With the 1-1 draw, the Pride remains undefeated.

The Orlando Pride made history in front of their home crowd at Inter&Co Stadium on Friday night, setting a new record with eight consecutive wins in the National Women's Soccer League. They remain undefeated in 11 matches this season and currently sit at the top of the NWSL table, celebrating the Pride's best start in the club's history. Forward Barbra Banda scored both goals in the 2-1 victory over the Portland Thorns.

In the first half, during four-minutes of stoppage time, Ally Watt played a through ball to Barbra Banda. Banda dribbled upfield, made a cut to her right, and split two defenders. She then took a low shot with her right foot. The Courage goalkeeper, Casey Murphy, made an initial save, deflecting the ball with her hands. As the ball popped out, it found a streaking Julie Doyle, who made a long run from midfield. In the 45th minute +2, Doyle met the deflection at the precise moment, burying the ball into the back of the net past a diving Casey Murphy. The goal brought the score to 3-0 at the end of the half. In the match, Barbra Banda scored two goals, Ally Watt scored one, and Julie Doyle scored one, giving the Pride a dominating 4-1 victory over North Carolina Courage.

In the 51st minute, Barbra Banda scores her first NWSL goal. The play developed off a short corner kick from Summer Yates, who found Doyle checking near post. Doyle flicked the ball on with her foot, finding the head of Banda, who finished the ball with a header past Washington's keeper Aubrey Kingsbury for the goal. It was Doyle's first assist of the 2024 season. Angelina and Summer Yates also scored for Orlando, resulting in the Pride's 3-2 victory over Washington Spirit .
